Hi, I'm Carly!
I started Quilted Roots Garden Consulting because I want to see my neighborhood filled with gardens and I want to help people reconnect to the land and each other. I know how much joy farming and gardening has brought me and I want to share that with others.
For the last 10 years, I have been working and managing diversified organic vegetable and flower farms all the way from Bath, Ohio (my hometown!) to here in Denver, CO. A lot of my work has been grounded in community-based food systems, soil and land stewardship, equity, and building agricultural spaces that support both community well-being and long-term sustainability.
Before I got into farming, I was in school getting a B.A. in Art Education and a BFA in Printmaking and Painting. My art gets a lot of inspiration from the garden. I would describe my art style as folk art meets abstract expressionism, rooted in the natural world. I love working with a lot of earth tones, and gold and metallics. As my art continues to develop, more symbols recur, such as stitch or quilt patterns, fish, flowers, leaves, etc. as these represent different family members, feelings, and connections for me. Some are as simple as the feeling of holding a really good coffee mug, or split logs being a memory of helping my dad with the log splitter growing up. Below are a few of my favorite pieces of art I've made. (Art website coming soon! Feel free to contact me through here about commissions!)
I love that the garden is a place to play, be creative, and I think one of mother nature's greatest classrooms. I would love to connect with you and make a badass garden in your yard together!
